Monologue "IVANOV" by Anton Chekhov - Performed by Robin Birrer
Hey folks! In this video, I perform a powerful monologue from Act 2 of Anton Chekhov's Ivanov. This scene captures the intense emotions and inner turmoil of the title character, Ivanov, as he grapples with his disillusionment, guilt, and the weight of his personal failures. Chekhov’s writing brilliantly conveys the complexities of Ivanov’s character, making this monologue a captivating and challenging piece to perform. I hope you enjoy my interpretation of this iconic moment from one of Chekhov’s most thought-provoking plays.

Masterclass "The Naked Face" by director David Penn
David is an award-winning director and acting coach, who’s worked in theatre, television, film and opera worldwide for over forty years. He has worked with countless actors, some of world renown, discretion dictating their anonymity here. The remarkable fact is, having engaged with the revelatory process of his Naked Face masterclasses, actors regularly declare it a life-changing experience; not only, subsequently, do they get cast more frequently, the holy grail for actors if ever there was one, but careers, on record, have opened out, sometimes spectacularly. David has helped and is always available to help non-professional actors, in all walks of life, who find themselves having to present to a camera. Business executives, politicians, diplomats, academics, artists, service personnel, sporting personalities etc all find themselves, at some point in time, needing to better understand how to relate to the camera, but to real effect. David knows how to help with this.

"She loves me, she loves me not" Monologue "The seagull" by Anton Chekov performed by Robin Birrer
Robin Birrer as "Treplev" has a very complex relationship with his mother, who is a famous actress. He only sees her a few months out of the year now that he is an adult. Treplev wishes to be a playwright, but abhors current standards of theatre. In this monologue, he addresses his uncle, Sorin. At the start of it, he is playing with his ring instead of pulling the petals off of a flower to start questioning, does his Mother even love him, or not?
